2014_Cannes_logoThe 67th Cannes Film Festival is approaching, so it’s time to find out which famous stars will take a spring break at the French Riviera.

“Grace of Monaco” by Olivier Dahan will open this year’s Cannes Film Festival which means that Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth, Frank Langella and Paz Vega will be the first to walk down the red carpet.

David Cronenberg‘s new film “Maps to the Stars” starring Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack and Robert Pattinson appears in the official selection, so its stars will light up the festival as well.

Robert Pattinson could probably meet his ex-girlfriend at the Croisette this May if Kristen Stewart, who’s starring in another official selection film “Clouds of Sils Maria” by Olivier Assayas, joins Julliette Binoche, Chloe Grace Moretz and Brady Corbet in Cannes.

But this won’t be the only ex-couple to “re-unite”. Ryan Gosling‘s debut film as a director, “Lost River” which has been selected at “Un Certain Regard” section features his ex-girlfriend Eva Mendes along with Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith.

Another couple -perhaps the most popular in France- will travel not far from Paris to sunny Cannes. Marion Cottillard stars in the new film by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne “Two Days, One Night”, which is a part of the official selection, whereas Guillaume Canet plays in the out of competition film “In the Name of my Daughter” by Andre Techine, with Catherine Deneuve and Adele Haenel.

One of the leading actresses of last year’s winner film (“La Vie d’Adele: Chapitres 1 et 2”) will visit Cannes for a second time in a row. Lea Seydoux stars in “Saint Laurent” by Bertrand Bonello, with Gaspard Ulliel, Brady Corbet and Louis Garrel. The film competes in the official selection.

“Le Meraviglie” by Alice Rohrwacher starring Monica Belucci competes in the same category.

Channing Tatum, Mark Rufallo and Steve Carell could plan a trip to Cannes since they all star in “Foxcatcher” by Bennett Miller which also claims the Palme d’Or.

Last year’s winner of best actress prize in Cannes will be returning again this May. Berenice Bejo plays next to Annette Bening in Michel Hazanavicius‘ new film “The Search”. This is the second time Michel Hazanavicius is nominated for a Palme d’Or in Cannes. His first nomination in 2011 was “The Artist” starring again Berenice Bejo.

Atom Egoyan‘s new film “The Captive” starring Ryan Reynolds, Rosario Dawson and Scott Speedman will also premiere in the official selection section.

Tommy Lee Jones directs and plays along with Hilary Swank in “The Homesman” which is another nomination for the Palme d’Or at the 67th Cannes Film Festival.

Finally, Gael Garcia Bernal will have a double role in this year’s Cannes Film Festival since he is a member of the Jury of the Competition and also stars in Pablo Fendrik‘s new film “El Ardor” which is a special screening.

Cannes Film Festival 2014 dates: 14-25 May 2014.
