cinefondation logoThe “Cinéfondation Prize”, which was introduced in 1998 by Gilles Jacob, will be awarded to three films submitted by film students from around the world.

The selection comes from the films in the corresponding category (Cinéfondation Selection). This Jury will also decide the “Palme d’ Or” (“Golden Palm”) in the Short Film category. So, here are its famous members:

Abbas Kiarostami – President of the Jury (Iranian director and writer) – recent movie: Like Someone in Love (2012) / known for: Taste of Cherry (1997), The Wind will Carry Us (1999)

Noemie Lvovsky
 (French director, actress and writer) – recent movie: Camille redouble (2012) / known for: La Vie Ne Me Fait Pas Peur (1999), Feelings (2003)

Daniela Thomas (Brazilian director, writer and visual artist) – recent movie: Sunstroke (2009) / known for: Foreign Land (1996), Paris je t’aime (segment: Loin du 16e) (2006)

Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Chadian director, writer and cinematographer) – recent movie: Grigris (2013) / known for: Dry Season (2006), A Screaming Man (2010)

Joachim Trier (Norwegian director and writer) – recent movie: Oslo, 31 August (2011) / known for: Reprise (2006)

Three days before the end of the festival the “Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury” will give away the “Cinéfondation Prizes” (on May 22nd) and on May 24th it will announce the best Short Film of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
