Golden Globe Awards are often said to be a forerunner of the Oscars.

Since 2000, six movies have won both of these awards for best motion picture (The Gladiator (2000), A Beautiful Mind (2001), Chicago (2002), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), The Artist (2011)).
